Travel the famous "Birdsville" and "Strezleki" tracks two of the most famous or infamous aussie outback tracks in one trip.

Take a boat trip on the mighty Cooper creek one of the last unrestrained river systems in the world. Visit "Burke and Wills" country - see the "dig tree" where these famous explorers buried supply's on their historic journey.

Experience the harsh conditions the drovers of huge herds of cattle met, when the "Strezleki" track was pioneered in 1871 by "captain starlight" a notorious cattle "duffer" (thief) who drove a large herd of stolen cattle from Queensland to Adelaide through some of the harshest terrain in the world.

Travel through three deserts the Tirara, Strezleki and Sturts stony desert.

      

Typical outback tracks wet & dry !

Day 1 Travel North past the Flinders Ranges to Marree, stopping off at points of intrest along the way. Stay overnight at the Marree Hotel.

Day 2 Travel up the Birdsville Track to Birdsville after spending some time at the Mungerannie waterhole birdwatching ,walking or taking a dip in the warm pool.
Accommodation at the Birdsville Hotel (ensuite).

Day 3 Visit the museum in Birdsville the huge sand hill called BIG RED on The edge of the Simpson Desert and the Wadi trees, a rare Acacia which only grows in three places in the world, the Dingo Caves and an Aboriginal tools site.

Day 4 Travel to Innamincka via the historic Cordillo Downs shearing shed and the "Dig Tree" or by the Walkers crossing Track Cabin accommodation shared facilities.

Day 5 Visit historic Burke and Wills sites or travel to the "Coongie Lakes" World Heritage Wetlands depending on track conditions stay Overnight at Innamincka. Take an evening cruise on the picturesque Cooper Creek.

Day 6 495km Travel down the "Strezleki Track" to Mt Hopeless and turn off to the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary (ensuite accommodation) Taking a break at Montacallina Bore a real oasis in the Cobbler Desert.

Day 7 Do the "Ridge Top" tour in the morning and the "Echo Camp" track in the Afternoon. Both 4WD adventures with spectacular scenery & secluded waterholes.

Day 8 Travel South to Blinman via Wearing Gorge for a lunch stop. Past the Great Wall rock formation and through the historic town of Burra to Adelaide.

Tour includes: All accommodation (twin share) 7 Continental Breakfasts, 7 evening meals (main course), 5 lunches. Park and Museum entrance, Echo Camp back track 4WD tour . The Cooper Creek eco cruise not included (recommended)
