Day 1 Depart Melrose & travel north past the Flinders Ranges to Marree and up the Birdsville Track to the Mungerannie Hotel one of the most isolated in Australia for our overnight stay (Cabins share facilities). Stopping off at points of interest along the way Day 2 Travel up the Birdsville Track to Birdsville after spending some time at the waterhole bird watching , walking or taking a dip in the hot pool. Accommodation at the Birdsville Hotel (ensuite). Day 3 Visit the museum in Birdsville, the huge sand hill called BIG RED on The edge of the Simpson Desert and the Wadi trees, a rare Acacia which only grows in three places in the world, the Dingo Caves and a Aboriginal tool site. Day 4 Travel to Innamincka via the historic Cordillo Downs shearing shed and the Burke and Wills "Dig Tree" or by the Walkers crossing Track. Cabin accommodation shared facilities. Day 5 Visit the historic Burke and Wills sites or travel to the "Coongie Lakes" World Heritage Wetlands depending on track conditions overnight at Innamincka. Cabin accommodation shared facilities. Day 6 Innamincka to Tibooburra then Camerons Corner, where three states meet for lunch at the isolated "Corner Hotel" continuing on through Stuart National Park to Tibooburra for our overnight stay. Day 7 Travel south to "White Cliffs" a famous opal mining town for a brief visit and lunch. Then on to Broken Hill for our overnight stay. Day 8 Spend a day in this historic mining town visiting the Living Desert sculptures, art galleries and mine displays. Day 9 Return to Melrose visiting Silverton ghost town on the way to Peterborough and then Melrose. |

Extra tours, entrance to local attractions, souvenirs etc at your own expense. Adelaide departures available, but requires an extra day visiting Clare Valley premium wine region and Southern Flinders to stay overnight in Historic Melrose the first town in the Flinders Ranges. |
