| Day 1 7.30am departure Travel via National Highway 1 through Port Wakefield then on past Port Pirie, and via the beautiful Pichi Richi Pass to Quorn where we stop for lunch. We then travel to Warren Gorge and Bucharinga Gorge visiting the grave of Hugh Proby (an early settler) before heading across the vast plains of several remote properties to meet the main road north of Hawker. We travel to Parachilna (population 6), arriving in time for a drink before dinner and overnight accommodation at the award winning Prairie Hotel Day 2 After a hearty
breakfast we leave to travel further north via the historic mining
town of Beltana then via Copley toward the Gammon Ranges. We pass
by Mt Searle and skirt the Gammon Ranges National Park stopping for
a picnic lunch in the bush. We travel through beautiful and rugged
station country arriving at the remote Arkaroola Tourist Resort in
time for dinner. Dinner and overnight accommodation at Arkaroola. Day 3 This morning
you are treated to a breathtaking 4WD Ridgetop tour. After lunch we
have time for a walk in the bush or to take a short drive to some
spectacular spots nearby. Following dinner and providing the sky is
clear we may visit the observatory for a trip across the brilliant
southern sky. Dinner and overnight accommodation
at Arkaroola. Day 4 Today we travel
via Balcanoona and Wirrealpa to Blinman. Lunch in the spectacular
Mount Chambers Gorge. Day 5 This morning we leave early for another day of great scenery and wildlife. We travel through Bunyeroo Gorge and Brachina Gorge out on to the plains. We skirt the National Park, take the scenic Moralana Drive to Hawker then Orroroo where we stop for lunch. We then head home via Jamestown and Clare, arriving in Adelaide by approx 6.30 p.m. |
