Five Day Outback Experience A once in a lifetime
experience of the Australian Outback
Departs most Mondays from Melrose, Pt Pirie or Pt

Day 1: travel via the Stuart Highway to the desert oasis of Glendambo. We travel through vast sheep stations, past Lake Hart & Island Lagoon. Day 2: travel via the Stuart Highway to the unique town of Coober Pedy. Visit the Breakaways (the mars like landscape used for films such as Mad Max & Pitch Black) for a spectacular sunset (weather permitting). Accommodation is in an underground motel. Time for a brief exploration of the area. Day 3: travels to William Creek on the Oodnadatta Track. Visit Lake Eyre North at Halligan Bay. Access is by 4WD track across the vast Anna Creek Cattle Station largest cattle station in the world (the size of Belgium) to the wilderness area of Lake Eyre. Return to William Creek in time for a scenic flight over the Lake see the Wrights Air Site for details (extra cost of approx $115pp). We stay overnight at William Creek (cabins or hotel depending on availability) have a drink in a real 'Outback Pub' see a photo . Day 4: we travel south on the famous Oodnadatta Track following the Old Gahn rail corridor. Visit Coward Springs, the Mound Springs, Curdimurka (the venue of the Outback Ball), Lake Eyre South, Lyndhurst Ochre Cliffs, passing the massive Leigh Creek coal mine. We stay overnight at Blinman with Flinders ranges accessed through the Parachilna Gorge. Optional scenic flight is available over the Flinders Ranges (extra cost approx $90pp). Day 5: we travel past the formation called the Great Wall of China through the Brachina Gorge geological trail. Into Aroona Valley for a view of the magnificent Heyson Range, Bunyeroo for views of the surrounding ranges and the Northern Wall of Wilpena Pound and the Moralana scenic drive for a view of the Elder Range & the Southern Wall of the pound. We then return to Melrose. |

Included in the Package Travel, meals and accommodation (twin share). We can also arrange accommodation at Melrose before and after the tour at very reasonable rates. Secure car parking is available at Melrose. Extra tours, souvenirs etc at your own expense. |
