| Day 1 Travel direct to Glendambo (or Wirraminna Station) see Pt. Augusta, the Arid Lands Botanic Garden and Lake Hart, stay overnight at the Desert Oasis of Glendambo. (7-00am departure) Day 2 Travel up
the Stuart Highway to Coober
Pedy, explore some attractions in this unique town,
visit the Breakaways for a spectacular sunset (weather permitting).
Stay Overnight in an underground Motel Day 3 Head North across
vast cattle stations to Cadney Park and then turn East to travel through
the Copper Hills and then on to the unusual and scenic Painted Desert,
a large area of Breakaway Country ( a reminder that this was once
under a sea) Take a walk through the area for some photos and survey
the area from a hill top to appreciate this very unusual landscape
(easy walk). Return to our underground accom at Cooberpedy Day 4 After a leisurely breakfast travel to Lake Eyre North, access by a 4WD track through the vast Anna Creek Station, the largest cattle station in the world (the size of Belgium). See the real wilderness area around this vast salt lake. An optional scenic flight is available at own cost at approx $115.00 pp see the Wrights Air Site for
details . Stay overnight at the William

be cabin accom. separate facilities). Evening meal at the Hotel. Day 5 Travel south along the famous Oodnadatta Track – visit the unique Mound Springs, Coward Springs, Curdimurka, Lake Eyre South, Marree, Lyndhurst Ochre Cliffs on the way to Leigh Creek for our overnight stay at the Outback Resort or cabin accom. (onsuite). Day 6 Travel East
through the Ranges to the Gammon Range National Park and on to the
Arkaroola Wilderness Resort. There will be an opportunity to walk
through Weetootla Gorge into the Gammon Range National Park and or
visit Grindels Hut. (approx 2 hours) Day 7 Take the famous “Ridge Top Tour” in the morning (own cost) and after lunch either do a walk or a 4wd waterhole tour overnight Arkaroola. Day 8 Travel down the central Flinders Ranges, through the spectacular Brachina Gorge Geological Trail. See some interesting fossils and if we are lucky the rare Yellow Foot Rock Wallaby Stay overnight at the Wilpena Pound Resort. Option of scenic flight over Wilpena Pound own cost (recommended). Day 9 Take a walk into the Pound to a lookout first thing this a.m. and then head south to Melrose via the Moralana scenic drive to Hawker, a chance to see the Wilpena Panorama a scale panorama painted by a local artist. Then on to Quorn calling at a Aborigonal art site along the way, further along calling at spectacular Alligator Gorge only accessed by decending over a hundred steps (no need to climb out we meet you at the end of the gorge) and then on to Melrose for the last night Day 10 Return to Adelaide, Tour the Southern Flinders Ranges through private property; see magnificent views of the Ranges and Spencer Gulf. Travel through Clare Valley to Adelaide via the beautiful “Skilly” road (Winery visit optional). |
