10 Day Fully Accommodated Holiday

Experience some of the most isolated places in Australia a holiday of great contrast, from the temperate farming and wine producing areas to the harshest deserts. Wildlife to view includes numerous aquatic bird species, Emus, Brolgas & various species of Kangaroos.

Day 1 Travel the Barrier Highway to Broken Hill, visit Burra once an important Copper Mining Centre. Tonight & tomorrow night staying in a motel in Broken Hill.

Day 2 Spend a day in the historic mining town of Broken Hill - visit the Living Desert reserve, sculptures, art galleries, mining displays or the famous "Silverton" ghost town.

Day 3 Further "Outback" to Tiboorburra, visiting the unique opal mining town of White Cliffs on the way - Overnight stay at Tiboorburra Hotel-Motel or Cabin.

Day 4 To the "Cooper Creek" country via Sturt National Park & Camerons Corner, where three states meet take a break at the "Corner Store". Over night stay at Innamincka - Cooper Creek home stay or cabins shared facilities.

Day 5 Visit "Coongie Lakes" world heritage listed wetland area and take the evening "Cooper Creek Waterhole eco Cruise" for some bird spotting & history visit Kings marker. Stay over night at Innamincka.

Day 6 Travel to Birdsville - visit the Burke & Wills Dig Tree and Cordillo Downs Shearing shed, where up to 80,000 sheep were shorn by shearers who rode their bicycles from Farina on the old Ghan Railway, through the Cobbler and Sturts Stony deserts to get there and then back again afterwards! Overnight at the Birdsville Hotel or Cabins - depending on availability.

Day 7 A day around Birdsville - visit Big Red a huge sand hill in the Simpson Desert, the working museum, the Wadi trees (a rare Acacia which only grows in three places in the world) and Dingo caves. Overnight at Birdsville.

Day 8 A leisurely start and then head south down the famous "Birdsville Track" Taking the 'Inside track' if open - this was the original track used by Drovers with large herds of cattle, to Mungerannie Hotel one of the most isolated in Australia. Take a dip in the warm artesian water hole, a great area for some bird watching. Overnight at Mungerannie Hotel - cabins .

Day 9 Down the "Track" to Marree for a break, further on we visit the colourful ochre deposits at Lyndhurst, pass the large Leigh Creek coal mine, Wilpena pound, Hawker & Quorn to historic Melrose the first town in the Flinders Ranges. Overnight stay at Melrose motel or ensuite cabin.

Day 10 Return to Adelaide, take a 4WD journey over the Southern Flinders Ranges for some spectacular landscapes. Travel through the Clare Valley premium wine growing area, (Visit a winery) Arrive in Adelaide late afternoon.
